About WSLL

What is WSLL?
Warm Springs Little League (founded 1980) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, chartered under Little League International. We serve about 200–250 players each year across 20–25 teams.

What are the boundaries?
Players must live within the Fremont Unified School District boundaries for Leitch, Warm Springs, or Weibel Elementary to be eligible for All-Stars. Out-of-boundary players may request waivers but are typically ineligible for All-Stars.

How is the league organized?
WSLL offers divisions by age and skill: Tee Ball (ages 4–6), Minor B (ages 6–8), Minor A (ages 8–10), Majors (ages 10-12), Intermediate (age 13), Juniors (age 14), and Seniors (ages 15–16).

When is the season?

• Registration: Nov–Jan

• Tryouts/Draft: Jan

• Practices: Feb–Jun (2/3 days a week, ~2 hrs each)

• Games: Mar–Jun (2 days a week, ~2 hrs each)

Registration & Fees

When does registration open?
October/November on wsll.org.

What are the fees?
Fees cover uniforms, equipment, and field costs. Volunteer buyout is included (refundable with a shift, e.g., snack shack).

Refund policy?

• 100% before 2nd tryout

• 50% between 2nd tryout & Opening Day

• No refunds after Opening Day

What documents are needed?
Birth certificate + 3 proofs of residency (or school form). Required by Little League International.

Are scholarships available?
Yes. Contact the Registrar or President. Families must commit to volunteering.

Teams & Tryouts

How are teams formed?

• Tee Ball & Minor B: requests sometimes honored

• Minor A & above: players try out; teams formed by draft

What are tryouts?
Players are evaluated on fielding, throwing, batting, and running. Attendance required for team placement.

Can players play up?
Possibly—final decision is made during the draft with Board input.

Equipment & Uniforms

What does my child need?

• Required: glove, cleats, supporter/cup (boys)

• League provides: bats, helmets, catcher gear, jersey, hat

When do we get uniforms?
By March/Opening Day.

Games

What rules are used?
WSLL follows Little League International rules, with some local modifications for younger divisions.

Are there time limits?

• Majors & above: no limit

• Minors & below: recommended limits (or darkness)

Minimum playing time?
All divisions guarantee at least one at-bat and multiple defensive innings.

Postseason

What is TOC?
Tournament of Champions follows regular season for Minors & above.

How are All-Stars selected?
Players must attend 60% of games. Selections are based on eligibility, peer voting, and manager input.

Rainouts & Fields

Who decides rainouts?
Field Director (before 2pm) or the umpire once a game starts. Check website or connect with manager for updates.

Who maintains the fields?
Managers/coaches after each practice/game (raking, trash, covering mound, etc.).

Volunteering

Is volunteering required?
Yes. Families must volunteer or use the buyout option. Roles include snack shack, scorekeeping, umpiring, coaching, and field care.

Are background checks required?
Yes, for all adult volunteers.

Can students earn service hours?
Yes. Teens can help in concession, scorekeeping, coaching, umpiring, or field care.

Managers, Coaches & Umpires

Do they get paid?
No. All are volunteers.

How are managers chosen?
Applicants must submit a Volunteer Form, pass background checks, and be approved by the Board.

How do I become an umpire?
Submit Volunteer Form and attend a rules clinic. Training and mentorship provided.

Sponsorship

How can I sponsor?
Businesses or individuals may sponsor teams, donate goods/services, or contribute to scholarships here. Contributions are tax deductible.

Board of Directors

Can I join the Board?
Yes. Elections are held each September. Applicants must pass a background check.

Are Board members paid?
No. All are volunteers and pay the same registration fees as everyone else.
