Required background checks
Summary
If you will be volunteering for the league and interacting with the players, you need a background check. This includes everyone (adults and youths) volunteering in the following capacities:
- manager
- coach
- umpire
- team parent
- board members
The league will take care of most of the details; the next section describes what you need to do.
Instructions
- (All volunteers) You should have received an email on behalf of Little League with a link to an online background check. Click on the link and follow the instructions. The application takes about 15 minutes. There is no charge for this service. This must be done every year; if you did it last year you still need to do it again this year.
- (Adults (18 years & older) only) Live Scan fingerprints. This only needs to be done once per organization; if you have already been fingerprinted for WSLL, you do not need to do this again. We have partnered with the UPS Store at Warm Springs Blvd and Warren Ave. Just fill out this form and print it, drop by the store anytime, ask for Dapinder (DP), and let him know you need fingerprints for Warm Springs Little League. They will take care of everything and bill the league directly.
Note: you are free to use any LiveScan provider for this service; you can find other providers using this finder. However, the league will not reimburse you for live scans done at other providers.
Background information
Background checks are required for all volunteers before participating in any league activity. This is mandated by Little League, and by the State of California. It must be renewed every year.
In addition to typical identifying information, the State of California requires that fingerprints be provided in order to perform their background check. Fingerprinting services are provided by contractors who capture the fingerprints electronically and forward them to the appropriate government agency. This service is known as LiveScan. This is a one-time obligation; if you have already been fingerprinted for WSLL you do not need to do this again. (If you have been fingerprinted for another organization but not for WSLL, you must be fingerprinted separately for WSLL.)
